A urinary tract infection (UTI) is a contamination in any place of your urinary system i.e., your kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra. Most contaminations occur in the lower urinary tract i.e., bladder and the urethra.
Urinary tract infections are more frequent in women compared to men. The infection in the bladder can b more painful. It’s dangerous when the infection spreads to kidneys. These infections are usually treated using antibiotics. But the urinary tract infections can also be avoided by taking necessary precautions.
Symptoms:
Infections don’t show symptoms in all cases. However below are the symptoms of urinary tract infections.
- Persistent urge to urinate
- Burning sensation while urinating
- Frequent urination, small amounts of urine
- Urine that appears cloudy
- Change of the urine color to red, bright pink and also sign of blood
- Strong and pungent smelling urine
- Pelvic pain in women

Acute Pyelonephritis. It’s the bacterial infection of the kidneys and renal pelvis. The main cause of it is due to gram-negative bacteria. The following are symptoms for acute pyelonephritis.
- Pain in the back
- High fever
- Shivering and chills
- Nausea
- Vomits
Cystitis. Its inflammation in bladder caused by bacterial infection. This is usually caused by the bacteria e. coli. The following are the symptoms for Cystitis
- Pelvic pain
- Lower abdomen discomfort
- Frequent, painful urination
- Blood in urine
Urethritis. Its inflammation in the urethra. The following are the symptoms of Urethritis.
- Burning with urination
- Discharge
